Hi, I'm Tanner
About Me
I'm a UX designer based in Seattle with nearly 10 years of experience creating solutions that genuinely impact the people who use them. I do my best work on complex and obscure problems, the ones where the requirements shift halfway through, moving with speed without losing precision. Outside of work I'm usually outdoors with a camera. Photography has taught me to slow down and see the details of a scene, and that habit shows up in my design work too: I notice the small things that make something not just usable, but enjoyable.
Featured Projects
Designing Belonging
The Gates Foundation + Macmillan Learning
Spanning the course of three years, this project was a partnership with the Gates Foundation to help create a courseware solution to help improve the sense of belonging and metacognition in Black, Latino, Indigenous, and lower-income students.
Cultural Readings
Vista Higher Learning
A four-week design sprint to pull Vista Higher Learning's Cultural Readings out of the color-coded lesson flow and into an immersive experience, one that drops students into the geography and culture of the language they're learning.
Macmillan AI Standardization
Macmillan Learning
Fifteen AI implementations had accumulated across four Macmillan products with no shared foundation. I led the audit and standardization of AI Chat Interfaces and Content Creation into a reusable, atomic component system built for Macmillan's design system.
AI Mini-Game Builder
Macmillan Learning
A two-part system pairing a Claude Skill with a Claude Code prompt template, built to turn an educator's idea for a mini-game into a working, on-brand prototype in Macmillan's own design system.
